🇯🇵 Trip Report: Tokara Islands GT on the Maven Pacific
Jul 01, 2018
Recently Charles Cintron of GTFC managed to get away to Japan for a fishing trip in the Tokara Islands with Capt. Fukui aboard The Big Dipper.
The Fishing
Tokara fishing is tough, but that's part of the draw. It's also always an adventure. Charles described this trip as tough but fun, and it paid off with a very nice GT weighing 36kg / 80lbs.
The Rod: Maven Pacific Stickbait PE6-8
Charles landed the fish on the Maven Pacific Stickbait PE6-8, which he calls one of his favorite rods. When a fish that size is on the other end, you want a rod you trust, and the Pacific has earned that trust with him.
Tackle Used
- Rod: Maven Pacific Stickbait PE6-8
- Reel: Shimano Twinpower 14K
- Line: YGK PE-8
- Lure: Carpenter Pandora
